Employer: Private Household - Brad Location: Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, in the Portland Hills area Major Intersection: Portland Hills Drive and Bellbrook Crescent Position Details • Vacancies: 1 • Employment: Permanent, full-time • Hours: 40 hours per week • Wage: $20.00 per hour • Start Date: As soon as possible • Work Setting: Employer's private residence • Child in Care: One child, 7 years old • Language of Work: English Education and Certification • No formal education requirement • No certificates, licences or professional memberships required Experience • 7 months to less than 1 year of experience providing child care, home child care, or similar caregiving support • Relevant child care or household management experience is preferred • Applicants must be able to independently and safely perform the duties of the position Duties and Responsibilities The Child Care Provider will provide attentive and responsible care for one school-aged child in the employer's home. Duties include: • Supervise and care for the child in the employer's residence • Prepare and serve nutritious meals and snacks for the child • Assist and guide the child with personal hygiene and daily routines, as appropriate for the child's age • Help the child prepare for school and maintain consistent before-school and after-school routines • Plan and organize age-appropriate games, recreational activities and outings • Encourage the child's social, emotional and general well-being • Maintain a safe, healthy and supportive environment in the home • Accompany the child to and from school, appointments, activities and playdates, as required • Keep the parents informed about the child's daily activities, routines, health and general well-being • Perform light housekeeping duties directly related to the child's care, including tidying play and activity areas and cleaning up after meals and activities • Assume responsibility for the child's care and the household during the parents' absence Skills and Personal Suitability The successful applicant should be: • Dependable and responsible • Patient and attentive • Organized • Able to work independently • Comfortable caring for a school-aged child • Able to communicate effectively in English in an unsupervised home setting Employment Equity and Recruitment Canadian citizens, permanent residents and other applicants who are legally entitled to work in Canada are encouraged to apply.
