Location: Abbotsford, British Columbia Position: Blueberry Farm Worker / General Farm Worker – Harvesting NOC: 85101 – Harvesting Labourers Number of Vacancies: 3 Employment Type: Full-time, year-round Hours: 35–40 hours per week Wage: $18.50 per hour Language of Work: Not Applicable Education: No formal education required Experience: No experience required; on-the-job training will be provided Job Duties A Narang Farm Ltd. is seeking three full-time Blueberry Farm Workers to work on our approximately 40-acre blueberry farm in Abbotsford, British Columbia. The successful candidates will perform some or all of the following duties: • Prune blueberry plants using hand tools and pneumatic pruning shears. • Rake, plant, thin shoots and remove leaves as required. • Plant, fertilize, cultivate, irrigate and harvest blueberry crops. • Set up, monitor and maintain irrigation and water lines. • Operate and maintain farm machinery, equipment and small tools. • Assist with spraying and other crop-care activities in accordance with applicable safety requirements. • Monitor crops and identify signs of disease, pests or other health problems. • Examine harvested produce for quality and readiness for market. • Assist with preparing, sorting and handling produce for market. • Perform general farm maintenance and other related duties as required. • Work outdoors in varying weather conditions and perform physically demanding agricultural work. Employment Requirements • No formal education is required. • Previous farm or agricultural experience is an asset but is not required. • On-the-job training will be provided. Benefits and Other Terms • Full-time employment of 35–40 hours per week. • Employer-provided accommodation is available at a farm property. • Employer will provide or arrange transportation where required in accordance with applicable Temporary Foreign Worker Program requirements. • Employer will provide required workplace safety coverage and any required private emergency medical insurance during periods when the worker is not covered by the applicable provincial health-care system. Work Environment This is an outdoor agricultural position. The work is physically demanding and may involve prolonged standing, walking, bending, crouching, repetitive movements, lifting and working in hot, cold, wet or other changing weather conditions.
