Company Operating Name: PEAK Emergency Response Training Business Address: 1717 Beach Grove Rd, Delta, BC, V4L 1P4 Title of the Position: Priority Scheduled Instructor Number of Positions Available: 1 Job Duties: -Provide high-quality instruction using a systematic plan of lectures, practical skills scenarios, demonstrations, case studies, and other non-urban emergency care course curriculum. -Liaise with clients to ensure the provided courses best suit their needs, operation, and employees; must be able to contextualize the non-urban emergency care curriculum to clients’ specific application of the course content. -Organize, digitize, and file all course-related documentation. -Assist with monitoring, editing, and developing course curriculum and content based on current research and industry best practices, as directed by the Programs and Accreditation Director. -Organize, maintain, and restock regional training equipment and other course materials as necessary. -Provide individualized instruction to fit the needs of all students, including those with alternate learning abilities. -Prepare, administer, and mark standardized and practicum-based testing to evaluate students. -Supervise, train, and evaluate instructors-in-development and their delivery of non-urban emergency care course curriculum. -Provide career-based mentorship and guidance to students and instructors-in-training regarding the utilization of their training and skills. Skill Requirements: -Non-Urban Emergency Care, Advanced Occupational First Aid, or Wilderness First Responder Certificate -Minimum of 3 years’ experience providing and/or teaching advanced emergency or non-urban emergency care (e.g., wilderness first responder, paramedic, ski patrol, nurse, or other licensed medical practitioner). -Non-Urban Emergency Care Instructor, Occupational First Aid Advanced Instructor, or Wilderness First Responder Instructor-level Certificate -Avalanche safety and education certification (e.g., CAA Operations Level 1 or higher, AST 1, CAA AVSAR Advanced Skills, or equivalent) Work setting: -Various locations Personal suitability: -Ability to mentor and train others. -Ability to lead and direct a group. -Ability to provide constructive feedback to students, other instructors, and clients. -Organizational skills. -Strong interpersonal skills. -Ability to relate relevant personal experience to facilitate learning. -Ability to provide conflict resolution for students and clients. -Ability to accept and implement feedback. -Ability to work within a team. -Ability to lead a team. Transportation/travel information: -Willingness to travel Physical capabilities: -Physically able to lift training equipment up to 25kg, travel across uneven terrain and snow, and be able to deliver course content in front of students. -Be psychologically fit to discuss the realities of medicine in a professional and educational manner. -Be physically able to work outside in cold, heat, and inclement weather. Terms of Employment: This is a permanent and full-time position, 30 hours of work per week (6 hours per day) Language of Work: English Wage: $42.50/hour Vacation: 14 days Contingent Wages: Mileage reimbursement (when using personal vehicle) $0.48/km. Expense reimbursement as necessary.
