Job Description

Head Chef – Korilla Korean BBQ Korilla Korean BBQ is currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Head Chef to join our team at our Calgary location at 1410 17 Ave SW. This is a permanent, full-time position offering a competitive wage of $36.50 hourly for a 40-hour work week. The successful candidate will be expected to work on-site and should be available for a variety of shifts including days, evenings, nights, weekends, and overtime as required. We offer financial benefits, including gratuities, and are looking for someone to start as soon as possible. The ideal candidate must be proficient in communicating in English, both verbal and written, and possess a trades certificate, diploma, or equivalent experience. We require three to five years of relevant experience in a restaurant setting, with a specific focus on Korean cuisine. As a Head Chef, you will be responsible for a wide range of administrative and culinary tasks including estimating food and supply costs, managing labour expenses, maintaining records of food costs, consumption, sales, and inventory, and analyzing operating costs and other data. You will also play a pivotal role in leadership by recruiting and hiring staff, training kitchen workers in food preparation and safety, and supervising the activities of chefs and cooks. Beyond management, you will be deeply involved in the culinary output of the restaurant by creating new recipes, planning menus that meet high quality standards, and ensuring dishes are safely prepared for customers with food allergies or intolerances. You will be expected to demonstrate new cooking techniques and equipment to staff, requisition kitchen supplies, and coordinate equipment repairs or purchases. This role is physically demanding and requires the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines, often involving handling heavy loads and standing for extended periods. Personal suitability is key, as we are looking for a reliable, organized team player with strong leadership and interpersonal skills who maintains a high level of attention to detail.
