Job Description

Work location: 1570 18th Street, Brandon, MB, R7A 5C5 Wage: 30.50 hourly / 30 to 40 hours per week Nature of employment: Term or contract & Full time (Early morning, Morning, Weekend, On call) Start date: As soon as possible Number of vacancy: 1 Languages: English On site:Work must be completed at the physical location. There is no option to work remotely. Work setting •Restaurant Job Duties •Prepare and cook complete meals and individual dishes according to standardized recipes, including season, marinate, and assemble ingredients properly; preparing sushi rolls, soups, appetizers, etc. •Determine food portion sizes, control food costs, and minimize waste. •Plan menus and estimate food requirements based on business needs and customer demand. •Requisition food ingredients and kitchen supplies and verify product quality upon delivery. •Co-ordinate kitchen activities for daily operations and special events to ensure timely food preparation and service. •Inspect kitchen and food service areas to ensure cleanliness, sanitation, and compliance with health regulations. •Assist in training kitchen staff and helpers in food preparation, cooking techniques, and safe food handling practices. •Assist in supervising kitchen staff as required to maintain efficient workflow and quality standards. •Maintain inventory records of food, supplies, and kitchen equipment. •Clean and sanitize kitchen and work areas following established procedures. •Assist in managing daily kitchen operations to ensure smooth service. •Provide guidance on food preparation, storage, and food safety practices. •Ensure all food meets established quality control and presentation standards. Education and work experience requirements •Completion of secondary (high) school education is required; culinary training or diploma is considered an asset. •Minimum 2 years of proven experience in preparing Asian cuisine, with demonstrated experience in Japanese cuisine and sushi preparation preferred. •Strong knife skills and experience handling raw seafood, including proper cutting, storage, and food safety practices. •Ability to independently prepare menu items according to standardized recipes while maintaining consistency in quality and presentation. •Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple priorities, and perform under pressure during peak service hours. •Solid knowledge of food safety regulations, sanitation standards, and safe food storage procedures. •Valid Food Safety Certificate required (or must be obtained within a specified period). •Demonstrated reliability, strong organizational skills, and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
