About the Opportunity This is a temporary position for a service contract that will end on January 31st, 2027. We have 3 openings for 1st Cook. Hours: Averaging 40 hours weekly (overtime rate - time and a half) This is a supervisory role responsible for the full scope of planning and directing all food preparation and cooking activities at the camp. This includes food requirement estimates and labor costs, maintaining inventory, ordering food, kitchen supplies, and equipment, ensuring the quality of food, creating new recipes, and preparing and cooking meals and specialty foods, including dishes for customers with food allergies or intolerances. The 1st Cook also supervises and schedules daily duties for kitchen staff and provides instruction to the 2nd Cooks and kitchen helpers in preparation, garnishing, and presentation of food and teaching new cooking techniques. Key Responsibilities Plans and organizes food preparation and culinary activities. Assists Chef with menu ordering, inventory, and daily production planning. Preparation and production of menu items. Ensures daily production levels are met. Ensures all daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning lists are completed. Ensures food quality, food safety, and service standards are met and maintained. May be required to perform administrative and supervisory tasks. Adhere to safety policies and procedures by following safe work practices and company policies. Performs other duties as may be assigned. Maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers and customers. Qualifications Minimum of 3-5 years supervisory experience as a 1st cook Proven leadership, organizational, and time management skills in an industrial kitchen environment Food Safety certification in the province of British Columbia for the duration of employment is required. Ability to work within a multicultural diverse environment. Excellent written and verbal English Proven experience with inventory and grocery ordering Physical Requirements Stand, walk, stoop, kneel, or crouch for long periods. Repeat the same movements including fast, repetitive movements of fingers, hands, and wrists. Use muscles to lift, push, pull, or carry objects up to 50 lbs. Use hands to handle objects and tools. Certifications and other requirements All crew members onboard the MV Isabelle must have the minimum marine safety (Seafarers) certifications required by Transport Canada for the specific job.
