About the Company Toro Bar & Bar, operated by Yinghe Restaurant Ltd., is a well-known sushi restaurant located in the heart of downtown Victoria, BC. We are recognized for our authentic Japanese cuisine, clean and inviting atmosphere, and dedication to eco-friendly dining trends. Our 4,000 square-foot space accommodates up to 100 guests, providing a cozy yet vibrant dining experience. We are currently seeking a passionate and experienced Restaurant Manager to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing daily operations, ensuring exceptional customer service, and leading the team to achieve performance and service goals. This role requires strong leadership, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities effectively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. Job Responsibilities: - Plan, organize, control, and evaluate the daily operations of the restaurant to ensure efficiency and high-quality service. - Recruit, train, and supervise staff, providing coaching in food safety, customer service, and Japanese dining etiquette to maintain the highest service standards. - Establish and manage staff schedules, monitor team performance, to ensure optimal staffing and productivity. - Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations. - Manage inventory, monitor revenues, and adjust operational procedures and pricing to maintain cost control and maximize profitability. - Monitor financial performance, analyze sales trends, adjust budgets and menu pricing strategies to maintain profitability. - Uphold and enhance customer service quality, aligning operations with Toro Bar & Bar’s brand promise of a welcoming, cozy, and refined dining experience. - Address customer complaints or concerns professionally, maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction and service quality. - Negotiate and manage supplier relationships, ensuring timely delivery, quality control, and cost-efficiency of premium Japanese ingredients and eco-friendly products. - Collaborate on marketing strategies, promotions, and local partnerships to increase brand visibility and attract both regular and new clientele. - Coordinate private events and catering services, offering tailored menus and on-site arrangements to enhance customer engagement and contribute to community presence and business growth. Job Requirements: - Completion of post-secondary education. A diploma or degree in food service administration, hospitality, tourism management, or a related field is preferred. - A minimum of 3–5 years of progressive experience in restaurant or kitchen management. Experience in a Canadian food service environment is an asset. - Serving It Right and Food Safety certifications. - Demonstrated leadership skills, with a proven ability to manage, motivate, and support a diverse team in a busy restaurant setting. - Outstanding customer service and conflict resolution skills, with a focus on delivering an exceptional dining experience. - Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities, capable of performing under pressure in a fast-paced and dynamic environment while maintaining attention to detail.
