Job Description
We are seeking a compassionate, dependable, and experienced Home Support Worker to provide personal care and daily living assistance to an elderly lady in a private household. The successful candidate will assist the client in maintaining comfort, dignity, independence, and quality of life while ensuring a safe and supportive home environment.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Provide personal care including bathing, dressing, grooming, oral hygiene, and toileting assistance.
• Assist with mobility, transfers, walking, and other activities of daily living.
• Prepare and serve nutritious meals and assist with feeding when required.
• Assist with medication reminders as directed by the employer or healthcare professionals.
• Perform light housekeeping duties, including cleaning, laundry, changing bed linens, and maintaining a safe home environment.
• Shop for groceries, household supplies, and run errands as required.
• Accompany the client to medical appointments and community activities.
• Observe and report any changes in the client's physical, emotional, or mental condition to the employer or designated family members.
• Provide companionship and emotional support while respecting the client's dignity, privacy, and independence.
• Maintain confidentiality regarding the client's personal and medical information.
Employment Requirements
• Completion of secondary school (equivalent to Canadian High School) is required.
• Completion of a Home Support Worker, Personal Support Worker (PSW), Health Care Aide, or related caregiver training program is preferred.
• Alternatively, at least one year of full-time paid experience providing care to seniors or individuals requiring personal assistance will be considered.
• First Aid and CPR certification is an asset.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English.
• Compassionate, patient, reliable, trustworthy, and able to work independently.
• Criminal record check is required.
